NTA JEE - Main 2022

JEE Main 2022 New Changes

  1. Number of sessions: In 2022 JEE Main Exam will be held in 2 sessions, June session and July session (Revised). B.Arch. and B. Planning (Paper 2A and Paper 2B) are also included in these sessions.
  2. No of Attempts: Students can only take 2 attempts per year for JEE main 2022, previously it was 4 attempts per year. .
  3. Percent criteria has been removed by NTA from 2022, previously Minimum 75 per cent marks were required in class 12 for JEE main
  4. Students will not be able to make corrections in the filled application forms, so students need to be very careful while filing the application form.
  5. In JEE main 2022, questions of Section B (Numerical value) will also have negative marking. Up till 2021 negative marking was only applicable for MCQ type question (Section A).
  6. Students can only select nearby cities as preferred exam city according to the permanent and present address, filled in application form.
  7. PwD Candidates will be given extra 20 minutes for each section in Paper 1 and Paper 2, Now the total time duration will be 4 hour for PwD candidates.
  8. The best of two JEE main scores will be taken to compute all India rank (AIR) in NTA JEE main 2022.

JEE Main 2022 Eligibility Criteria

1. Age Criteria:

There is no age limit for the aspirants, appearing in NTA JEE Main 2022.

2. Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination (QE):
  • Those candidates who have passed Class 12 examination or any equivalent examination in 2020 or 2021 are eligible to appear in JEE Main exam 2022.
  • Students appearing in their Class 12 examination or any equivalent examination in 2022 are also eligible to appear in June and July session.
  • Candidates who passed Class 12th or equivalent examination in 2019 or before and those who will appear in such examination in 2023 or after that are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2022.
3. Qualifying Exam:
  • The final examination of the 10+2 system conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
  • A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
4. Qualifying subjects:
  • There are three different courses under JEE Main 2022, B.Tech, B.Arch & B.Planning, the subject combination is different for all three courses.

    B.Tech :- Aspirant must have Physics and Mathematics a compulsory subject along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject.

    B.Arch :- Students having Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in class 12 or equivalent examination  are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2022

    B.Planning :- Candidates need to have mathematics in class 12/equivalent examination.

5. Qualifying marks:
  • There is no need of qualifying percentage of class 12 to appear in NTA JEE-Main 2022.
6. Total attempts
  • A candidate can attempt the exam in 3 consecutive years only.
  • The total number of attempts would be 6, (first year- 2 attempts, second year- 2 attempts and 3rd year- 2 attempts)
